23rd May 21 Architectural Festival Closes in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The 23rd May 21 Architectural Festival closed with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex on May 15.
The participants in the festival actively exchanged their successes and experience gained in the struggle to build model structures of the times embodying the people-first architectural idea and open up a new phase in creating socialist civilization.
During the festival there were a presentation based on experience of creation on formative artistic features of the design for Pyongyang University of Architecture, which was successfully completed as a great institution for training Juche-oriented architectural talents under the meticulous guidance and loving care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, a drawing contest aimed at improving the practical abilities of architects and a video show on the world trend of architecture.
Present there were Pak Hun, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned, and officials, scientists, technicians, designers, teachers and researchers in the fields of construction and education.
The results of the festival were announced on the basis of deliberation of experts and evaluation of amateurs. And cups, diplomas and certificates were awarded to the highly appreciated participants and units including Pyongyang University of Architecture, Jagang Provincial Designing Institute, South Hamgyong Provincial Designing Institute, Kangwon Provincial Designing Institute and South Phyongan Provincial Designing Institute. It was followed by a prize-giving ceremony.
Sim Yong Hak, chairman of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea, gave a closing address.
