Jonwi Street, a new modern street in the northern gateway to Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, records another heroic tales created in the course of development of the country’s youth movement resplendent with great inheritance and exploits.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth at the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea the task for building a new street in the Sopho area in addition to the project of 10 000 flats in Pyongyang in 2023, and entrusted the Socialist Patriotic Youth League and the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade with the entire project.
On February 25, 2023, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the street, and made a speech and pressed the button of blasting signalling the groundbreaking, encouraging the young vanguard full of enthusiasm, fighting will and determination to bring about a grand transformation in the capital city construction. He then handed over to the young people the flag of the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade, the symbol of struggle and advance of the young generation.
Busy as he was guiding the overall state affairs, he set forth the orientation and ways for building the street as befits the soaring spirit and noble honour of our young people, and took all measures for the project, ranging from organizing the construction workforce and supplying equipment and building materials to establishing a well-regulated command system.
He sent the shock brigade members diaries with Days of My Youth written on the front covers so that they could record their feats with the words My Capital City and My Pyongyang in the prime of their life, and encouraged them lacking in experience and skills to bravely advance by sending them various kinds of foodstuffs and fruits so that they would not hesitate in the face of difficulties.
The boundless trust and affection of Kim Jong Un, who had brought up them, a powerful motive force of national development, as brave fighters and honourable builders of socialism inheriting the traditions of loyalty and patriotism on the road of current general advance, served as a motive force for creating legendary tales and feats, turning the construction site into a vast arena of the young people who were opening a new phase of the development of Juche-oriented architecture.
Encouraged by his fatherly affection, the young vanguard built the new street, symbolic of socialist development and its future, recording on their autobiographies the noble title of honourable participants in the construction of Pyongyang.
A large architectural group of high-rise and super high-rise apartment houses and the public buildings of different styles, including the 80-storey apartment house, is a proud achievement the reliable young vanguard dedicated to their motherland and fellow people, defending and upholding the cause of the Party with ardent patriotism, and fruition of the vigorous advance of our style of socialism.
Jonwi Street associated with the name of young vanguard, which was built in the face of the severest difficulties, will shine in history as a monument to youth demonstrating the bright future of the powerful socialist country that will be prosperous forever.
