The Pyongyang Pharmaceutical Factory was wonderfully modernized thanks to the lofty will of the Workers’ Party of Korea which has put forward continuous development of the public health as an eternal state policy.
On January 24, 2018, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the factory despite cold weather, and unfolded a far-reaching plan of modernizing the factory as a model pharmaceutical factory in the country.
Busy as he was guiding the overall state affairs, he kept paying close attention to the modernization project.
Ri Kwang Uk, designer from the Light Industry Design Institute, was in charge of the process design of the factory, and made a great contribution to renovating all its production lines and environment as demanded by the international standards.
The architectural characteristics of the production lines are as follows.
First, in order to create a GMP environment the lines of washing and sterilizing raw materials and products were made more concrete. And the plane was so designed as to prevent the mutual intervention of medicines in the workshops through the passage of workers and raw materials. In particular, the GMP area and non-GMP area were strictly divided and the sanitary inspection level of workers was raised to the highest level possible.
And streamlined production lines have been introduced according to the missions and characteristics of each workshop.
In the chemical medicine workshop a passage has been arranged so that the half-finished products from the mixing and drying lines can be carried to the sugar-coating, capsule-making, and packaging lines by unmanned cars, and the pill packaging line has been streamlined.
In the Koryo medicine workshop the pill and liquid medicine packaging lines and indan production line have been streamlined, and the capsule and drops production facilities have been organically integrated.
In the packaging workshop the production of plastic bottles has been streamlined, and the facilities for printing packaging materials and producing plastic bottles have been replaced with modern ones.
The Pyongyang Pharmaceutical Factory is another monumental edifice built thanks to the benevolent affection of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who spares nothing for the life of the people and promotion of their health.
