The twin apartment buildings for the lecturers at Kim Chaek University of Technology constructed in the shape of sailing boats on the bank of the Taedong River embody the Workers’ Party of Korea’s idea of attaching importance to science and talented persons and the respected Comrade
On October 16, Juche 103 (2014), he visited the completed apartment buildings to provide the teachers and researchers at the university with excellent houses. It was his third visit to them.
Saying that the buildings were wonderful and they looked like sailing boats on the Taedong River, he looked round the buildings with satisfaction.
In a flat on the 46th floor, the top floor, he said: It would be good to provide such flats to young teachers or researchers with small families; I heard that flats on high floors are planned to be provided to young people; they would like to live in flats on high floors.
Then he examined the window frame to see if wind passed through it. And in the toilet in the master bedroom, he turned on the water tap, and saying that the water pressure was low apparently because the flat was on the highest floor, he stressed that steps should be taken for the teachers not to feel any inconvenience in their living.
Looking back, history recorded no state which had such excellent houses built for educationists nor a leader who climbed the top floor of a high-rise apartment building for them and showed meticulous concern for their convenience.
Deeply grateful for him, a senior official of Kim Chaek University of Technology said that he wanted to shout before the world that thanks to his benevolence, the educationists at his university were provided such wonderful houses.
Seeing the modern super-high-rise apartment houses, foreigners hardly believe that they were provided to teachers and researchers free of charge and say such things were beyond imagination in their countries.
But this is the reality in Korean-style socialism.
The houses represent the Korean educationists’ gratitude to the benevolent socialist system and their happiness and pride in living in the embrace of the great leader.
