On July 2, Juche 101 (2012), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Pyongyang Children’s Department Store prior to its inauguration.
After receiving the greetings of the officials of the department store, he looked round the counters on the first floor filled with a wide variety of goods.
Then he stopped before a children’s play area.
The play area was newly laid out according to his instruction. When he visited the department store in late May, he referred to the need to make a play area on each floor and suggested the ways to this end, saying: It is not necessary to have a separate room for that purpose but just a hall or a certain area furnished with playground equipment will do.
Later, play areas were laid out. They were furnished with various colourful pieces of playground equipment.
Feasting his eyes on the play area, Kim Jong Un said: If children come to the Pyongyang Children’s Department Store and see the fantastic playground equipment in the play areas, they will prefer playing there rather than going around with their parents; if they get carried away by playing in the area, they will even forget to return home; then their parents will not have to worry about losing them; that is why I suggested laying out play areas in the store.
Looking up to him, the officials thought: Parents pay primary attention to the safety of their children; we, too, used to tell our young children or grandchildren to cling to us when we go to busy stores with them to buy them something they want; but we have never thought of laying out play areas in the shops for children and relieving the parents of their worries; indeed, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un is the benevolent father of the people who takes loving care of them.
