Looking back upon the imprints left on flood-hit areas in North Phyongan Province
Earthen Staircase

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un looked round the food-hit area on board a small rubber boat.
The people across the country grew worried when they saw him on TV putting his feet without hesitation on a staircase made temporarily with earth-filled sacks to stop flooding.
Did any head of state ever step on a dangerous, slippery earthen staircase in a flood-swept place with a painful feeling for the victims and unfold a far-reaching plan to build houses for them?
The staircase tells a story of his self-sacrificing devotion for the people in the face of any trials.
Although the staircase was not so high, all the officials thought that it was the height they had to attain, the height of devoted service for the people.
The staircase will disappear when the flood-hit area turns into a paradise of the people. But people will remember it together with the vertical iron staircase at Unit 2 of the Kumyagang Power Station and the dangerous railway bridge in the Komdok area, built on the piers made of log frames.
