The construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang, powerfully carried on as the top-priority task of the historic Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, has been successfully concluded to be an epoch-making success in the new era of the comprehensive national rejuvenation.
Nearly 60 000 houses and public buildings with advanced civilization were built in Songsin, Songhwa and Hwasong areas to create new majestic and beautiful ideal streets of people, showing the eye-opening development of the people-first architecture, and a modern urban administrative district was formed. As a result, Pyongyang has been given a radical face-lift as befitting the capital city of socialist Korea in five short years.
With the over-fulfillment of the five-year plan for capital city construction, the WPK came to surely keep the promise it made to the people in the name of the dignified Party Congress. Through the struggle of past five years, experience like a textbook and a new standard of the Juche-oriented architecture have been created to dynamically guide the construction work on a nationwide scale that will be more widely conducted in the period of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK.
This eye-opening reality symbolizing the era of great changes is another precious fruition of the far-reaching plan and wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who set it as an honorable revolutionary task to turn Pyongyang into a world-class city where all desires of the people come true and has energetically guided the whole course of grand construction from the significant first ground-breaking. It is also an immortal great victory of our Party’s idea of believing in the people as in Heaven.
An inauguration ceremony of 10 000 flats at the fourth stage in the Hwasong area, to conclude the five-year plan for monumental capital city construction, was held with splendor on February 16, the auspicious holiday of our state.
The venue of the inauguration ceremony was filled with high pride of the capital city builders, who provided the biggest labor gift to the Ninth WPK Congress by perfectly building grand architectural groups adding brilliance to the great era of Kim Jong Un under the flag of the housing construction headquarters for building 50 000 flats in Pyongyang given by the Party Central Committee, and deep emotion and joy of Pyongyang citizens keenly witnessing the imposing era of prosperity of Pyongyang.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, attended the inauguration ceremony.
When he arrived, all the participants burst into stormy cheers of "Hurrah!", looking up to the great master of creation, the outstanding leader of the revolution who is vigorously ushering in a brilliant heyday of the comprehensive development of socialism where the people’s dreams and ideals come true.
Present at the ceremony were members of the central leadership body of the Party, including senior Party, government and military officials, and officials of ministries and national agencies, working people to live in the new street, military-civilian builders, youth and students and Pyongyang citizens.
Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, addressed the ceremony.
Saying that we came to greet the moment of emotion proudly declaring that the construction plan for 50 000 flats in the capital city was over-fulfilled by far through the dynamic construction revolution in the great era of Kim Jong Un, the speaker extended warm congratulations and thanks on the occasion of the significant inauguration to all the builders of the capital city, service personnel, and officials and working people in the relevant fields who helped keep the promise made by the Party to the people.
The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un ensured that the housing construction was surely carried out, irrespective of condition and environment, with it as the core of the construction policy set forth at the Eighth WPK Congress, saying that socialism should be built in the mind of the people first and the housing problem is a matter of their greatest interest, the speaker noted, adding: Thanks to his noble intention and steadfast will, the construction of 50 000 flats was given absolute significance as the Party’s cherished desire and has been carried on powerfully and vigorously at all times from its dynamic start
The speaker told in an excited tone about the tireless efforts and boundless devotion made by the General Secretary with his ardent will that the true picture of the WPK is in the appearance of the thriving country and in the happy looks of the people and out of his mind to provide the working people with new dwelling houses on the same day and at the same hour as if they had fallen from the sky and to see their happy looks as soon as possible.
Those modern large architectural groups are a symbol of the great ideology and politics of the WPK which warmly embraces the people and holds them in high esteem as Heaven, a sacred fortress of the strongest single-minded unity that nothing can break, and a demonstration of the indomitable spirit and inexhaustible power of socialist Korea, the speaker said, and extended the warmest gratitude to Kim Jong Un, who is building a socialist paradise envied by the world on this land, in reflection of the unanimous mind of all the capital city builders, Pyongyang citizens and all other people across the country.
Stressing that it is the sacred duty and honor of the present generation to improve the appearance of the country through the dynamic construction revolution and create the richest and most civilized life with our wisdom and hands, the speaker called upon all the people to continuously work hard to glorify the capital city of Pyongyang as the most beautiful and great city in the world full of happiness of the people and realize the far-reaching goal of building a highly civilized and prosperous state at an early date under the new milestone of transformation to be indicated by the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The moment, fireworks were set off, confetti was thrown and lots of balloons rose up into the sky above the venue of the ceremony, which witnesses the auspicious event to be specially recorded in the new era of prosperity of Pyongyang, to beautifully decorate the sky of the capital city.
The participants paid the highest tribute to Kim Jong Un who regards it as the strongest national power when all the people are equally prosperous and cultivates a large flower garden of all blessings where all the people across the country lead the happiest life in bright laughter.

He met workers who received new houses.
They expressed gratitude out of deep emotion. He wished them happiness in the wonderful houses and all the families who would move into new houses joy and happiness.
The citizens were filled with tears of gratitude, being embraced in the bosom of the benevolent father who made ordinary working people enjoy the privileges, that no other people in the world could imagine, and even gave them blessings of love.
Kim Jong Un met labor innovators who performed distinguished feats in the construction of the capital city.
Shaking hands with each of them, he said that thanks to the thoroughgoing implementers of the Party’s policies like them, the important construction task decided by the Party could be successfully carried out and that the Party Central Committee would unfold a more gigantic construction project, believing in the revolutionary mettle of creation and fighting spirit of the capital city builders in the future, too. And he warmly encouraged them, hoping that they will once again fully display their honor and mettle as capital city builders in a new grand construction theater.
The capital city builders raised cheers of emotion, looking up to Kim Jong Un who attached importance to the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang as the forefront symbolizing the pioneering era of comprehensive rejuvenation, repeatedly showed them great love and trust in the whole period of the huge project, guided them to the creation of miracles and attributed all the successes to them.
There was a performance in celebration of the inauguration.
The Hwasong area reverberated with famous songs on patriotism singing highly of the greatest motherland where the people’s paradise is being created with the principle of believing in the people as in Heaven.
The participants were filled with great joy while hearing the hymns of the era of great transformation in which a thriving power with the socialist civilization in full bloom is being built.
Solemnly played was the national anthem of the DPRK, the most advantageous people’s country where all wealth is created for the people and enjoyed by the people from A to Z.
In the evening of the beautiful capital city, filled with the noble emotions peculiar to our state and people, the participants enthusiastically sang in chorus an all-people hymn "Dear Father" and beautiful fireworks were set off into the sky above the luxurious street.

The newly-built Hwasong area looks so beautiful for its majestic appearance of large architectural group embodying the advanced civilization and, more importantly, as it is associated with the genuine happiness and bright images of the people, he said, adding that today is a very significant day in the time-honored history of Pyongyang, the capital city.
Stressing that it is our Party’s faith, absolute outlook on the people and thoroughgoing spirit of serving them to provide them with anything they want and everything for them under any circumstances, Kim Jong Un said that our Party will make strenuous efforts without a moment’s stagnation and deviation to bring earlier the future in which our people will enjoy a civilized and affluent life to their heart’s content.
The capital city construction should be steadily boosted, leading the development and civilization of our own style, he said, adding that the successes achieved so far are really great and precious but they are only beginning in comparison with our dreams and abilities. And he expressed his firm will to perfect the Hwasong area as a model district equipped with all political, economic and cultural components and turn the whole area of the capital city into the one embodying the features of the new era.
On the basis of the remarkable successes and experience achieved and gained in the period of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, the Ninth Congress of the WPK will clarify the greater milestone and goal of creation and our people will witness again another exciting five years of their perfect implementation, he said.
At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the wonderful new street.
At modern dwellings and peculiar service amenities embodying a harmony of the architectural formative art and advanced civilization, they were filled with boundless reverence for and trust in the motherly Party which translates all desires of the people into reality.
The successful completion of the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang proved before the whole world the truth that the Party’s decision for the good of the people is science, practice and victory. And it is brilliantly recorded in the history of the country as an unprecedented construction miracle that convinced all the people that our capital city and the DPRK would prosper more wonderfully along the new road to the overall prosperity of socialism to be opened up at the Ninth Congress of the WPK.
