The meeting to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Architects Union of Korea was held on the 25th of March at the People’s Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.
Present in the meeting were officials in the construction and relevant sectors, members of the Central Committee of the KAU and members of the KAU in Pyongyang.
Sim Yong Hak, chairman of the KAU Central Committee delivered a speech which reads in part: The 70 years of the KAU is a proud and glorious history in which Juche-oriented architecture has remarkably developed from one decade into another under the wise leadership of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
Since its founding on March 26, Juche 43 (1954), the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung clarified guidelines to be adhered to by the construction sector and guided the work of the union at every step.
In his immortal work On Architecture, the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il explained the essence, mission and character of the Juche-oriented architecture and gave perfect answers to the theoretical and practical questions arising in the creation of modern architecture.
He took measures for the KAU to splendidly celebrate the 40th and 50th anniversaries of its founding. His great affection and trust constituted the motive force that encouraged the union to fulfill its duty and mission.
In the new century of the Juche era the construction sector has, racing against time, made epochal changes under the outstanding and refined leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, genius of creation and construction.
Through his energetic ideological and theoretical activities, he clarified the ways and methods for ushering in a golden age of construction by fully applying the Party’s ideal of people-first architecture. Now he is leading the struggle to bring about a new efflorescence in the Juche-oriented architecture.
He visits construction sites, never minding hard rain or steaming heat. Thanks to his journey of patriotic devotion, numerous world-startling monumental edifices symbolizing the new era of the Juche revolution have sprung up throughout the country.
We should defend and add lasting brilliance to the imperishable revolutionary exploits performed by the great leaders for the development of the Juche-oriented architecture and bring about an uninterrupted upsurge in architectural creation for the prosperity and development of the country and the promotion of the well-being of the people.
KAU organizations at all levels should, regarding the Party’s ideas and theories on the Juche-oriented architecture and policies on construction as firm guidelines, solve all the problems arising in construction work without any deviation under the unified leadership of the Party Central Committee.
Members of the union should actively take part in May 21 Architectural Festival and national sci-tech presentation in the construction sector, broaden their horizons while sharing valuable sci-tech achievements, and create wonderful architectural designs with great ambition.
We should give worldwide publicity to the prestige of our state which is achieving marvelous successes in construction day after day, and make brisk efforts to introduce advanced architectural technology.
All the officials and members of the union should faithfully support the ideas and leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for building a socialist paradise by dint of boundless affection for the people, and fulfil their responsibility and duty in the worthwhile struggle to usher in a heyday of the Juche-oriented architecture.
