The 21st May 21 Architectural Festival was held in Pyongyang from May 7 to 10 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea.
The festival, held on the theme of “Comprehensive rejuvenation and development of our state and the Juche-oriented architecture,” is aimed at transferring and sharing technology and experience gained in architectural creation and thereby vigorously leading the great golden age of construction and development of the Korean-style socialist civilization, true to the intention of the Workers’ Party of Korea to create and develop new and unique style of architecture representative and symbolic of the era of the Workers’ Party.
Presented to the festival were more than 400 plans for architectural design highly appreciated at each provincial (municipal) architectural festival, scores of building equipment and tools, over 60 programs for architectural information modelling, and structural designs. The festival was divided into an exhibition of plans for architectural designs, exhibition of building equipment and tools, and exhibition of architectural information modelling.
Such plans for architectural design as Jinhung (prosperity), Chomdan (cutting edge) and Huinphado (white wave) and building equipment and tools like automatic rod strapping machine and hydraulic brisk molding machine were highly appreciated.
Architectural information modelling program 2024 and construction design budget drafting program Tanphung drew attention of the participants.
During a visit to the Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District, Songhwa Street, apartment buildings in the first and second stages in the Hwasong area, built as flourishing socialist living spaces, the participants keenly realized how wise is the leadership of the Party Central Committee in transforming the country into a socialist paradise where the people’s cherished desire has come true. They also had a deep understanding of the country’s level of development.
The festival served as an important occasion in giving a full understanding of the Party’s Juche-oriented idea on architecture to the officials, architects, scientists and technicians in the construction sector and in broadening their horizons and improving their qualifications through the rapidly-developing Juche-oriented architecture which is shining with the golden age of Pyongyang.
